Teaching The Important Things

With all due respect to Chris Rock, my only job as a father is not to simply keep my daughter off the pole. I have to make sure she knows the little things in life.

One day, we were all headed to lunch when the topic of noogies came up. I don’t remember all the details, but she mentioned something about noogies and an arm injury.

Apparently, to her middle school classmates, a noogie is any kind of hard rubbing or punching motion. I grew up in the 1970s with four older brothers. I know from noogies. They do not do anything to your arms. So I had to set the record straight.

A noogie is and forever will be a hard and passionate knuckle rub on someone’s scalp. Sometimes, there is knocking involved, but that is about the only opportunity you have to freelance.

So make sure you teach your children, Dads, before they come home with the wrong information.
